What is a blog?

What is a blog?

A frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and weblinks. A blog is often a mixture of what is happening in a person’s life and what is happening on the web, a kind of hybrid diary/guide site, although there are as many unique types of blogs as there are people. People maintained blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published systems, such as Blogger, Wordpress, and Jeeran.

What is RSS?

At heart, RSS is simply a specification that a site uses to produce a page of XML code. The code breaks up each entry or story on a website by title, description and direct link.

RSS is used for Web syndication by (among other things) news web sites, blogs and podcasting. When you subscribe to an RSS feed with an aggregator such as SharpReader or BlogLines, RSS feeds are displayed in a window similar to that of a standard e-mail client. The difference is that the items in the folders are not e-mail messages; they are news stories or individual blog entries.
