Office Conversation: Mama versus El-Mama

Tareq: Did you notice that Christians always say “El-Baba” and “El-Mama” over simply Baba and Mama? It’s a weird Christian thing. It’s also like that in Ramallah, I swear. I’ve been noticing that for 15 years.

Aseel: You idiot, that’s just me.

Tareq: No, no, I’ve done an informal research on that and it’s true!

Aseel: I guess we’re influenced by Il-Baba Al-Kabeer.

Never thought of it, but yes, I add “el-” when I mention my parents in the third person format. I wonder why. I never realized it was a christian thing. hmm. :)

Haha, I can sound like Tareq at times, no, no, I’ve read about that, researched that, it’s true! After every office read, I always wake myself up with a quick rainbow bright peek. Thanks btw for those kind and generous words Roba, how rude of me. Scatterbrain.

Yes, I say tawleh, lu3beh and fikreh. A lot of people tell me it should be fikrah not fikreh… I beg to differ. Now I can use ideology as my excuse! :p

Ziad, dude, fikreh absolutely does not work! :P Tayeb, Jobneh willa jebneh? Moose and I have been arguing about that for a while. What do you think?

Chris, lool, yeah, well, I think its cool to come up with our own theories, no matter how weird they are. Sometimes, they make more sense thannot having a theory :)

Tamara, really? I never noticed! I say Ma3karoah! I will test it! :P

Bardees, hehe, yup, apparently Tareq’s theory is being proven :P
