Before the 18
1. Dye your hair a crazy color. A week ago, I went to the hairdresser to get my hair dyed and cut, and I asked for bright red. The colorist went into a fit, saying that bright red is a hideous, hideous color for hair. Offended, I told him that I wore my hair pink for a while. He asked, “How old were you?” I said, “Seventeen.” He said, “You can do anything when you’re seventeen, but you can’t when you’re older.”
2. Get as many piercings as you can. I fondly remember when my ears were pierced to death, until they got infected at seventeen and I had to do away with all but three-an-ear.
3. Spend your entire summer vacation sleeping in till 5:00 PM.
4. Get insanely passionate about something unrealistic and freak everyone out getting really cheesy about it.
5. Figure out what something important to anchor to, ex. what you love in life, delve deeper about God, etc.

Can’t really think of many, as I think that 18 isn’t as important as 21. I can think of a whole list of things you need to do before you finish college, but not many before you turn 18. Can you think of any? If you can, please share your comments or blog about it yourself.

before 18, i was living all alone for 2 years back then, so i think the major changes started in my life since i was 16
1. i left my family
2. i started to work and make my living (though i used my family money too :P)
3. i used to stay up all night long, gol to school then work then sleep and wake up in like 2 am again, and start another day !
4. i started my cooking series :D , those include
a. eggs with all the spices avaliable in the kitchen (some times i used to eat sweet fried eggs :S)
b. spaghity with different types of salsa (anything colored red i found in the kitched or safeway .. some times i almost died of the taste and sometimes i got very very yummy stuff !)
c.\the ultimate cooktail sandwishes, that include labane, ketchup, turkey, chips , tuna, rice .. etc (all in one sandwish ! :S)
ehh, i survived, dont worry :P
at the age of 18:
1. became a muslim again
2. made my hair so long then cut it all, no body knew me back then !
2. moved to live with my brother (along with the list above !)

That colorist needs to go to the walking streets of Frankfurt for an hour. Bright red is TAME compared to some of that stuff, and those 35 year old ladies pulled it off looking positively right!
#4 is my favorite. Makes every parent shiver and cringe.

I think that getting passionate is a life necessity all through.. life with no passion, or dream forming and realizing is nothing, is just nothing when you get to think of it.
I would advice teenagers to maximize on time the most.. adults advice and not force is a must to do extra curriculum activities, sports, arts, and cultural fusions.. This definitely requires a free thought environment.
I would suggest to interact with outsiders (from your environment) to get exposed the most possible, to cultivate an understanding of various people and various ways of life and thinking… this will later reinforce judgmental capabilities and option choosing when reaching stages of decisions and proper planning, to lead better life towards life passions.
I regret the most, my high school and university years.. thinking of what could I have done but unfortunately wasted, and have to let go of many things and pay extra effort now to realize.
